CAROLINA MAMA

Carolina Mama is a versatile singer, cuatro player, songwriter, and arranger. She was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and from a young age she demonstrated a great talent for music, participating as a lead singer and part of the choir of Gonzalez
Pecotche, singing with some of South American most recognized artists such as Juan Carlos Baglietto, Lito Vitale, Julia Zenko, Leon Gieco.
In her adolescence, she developed a broad taste for different musical styles from Latin America. At the beginning of her education, she decided to pursue a career in film at the National University of Art (Universidad Nacional del Arte), where she discovered her passion for storytelling through music and film. Carolina’s career developed quickly as a filmmaker and musician. She kept studying music privately with well-renowned artists such as Katie Viqueira, Veronica Condomi, Juan Cruz de Urquiza, Mariano Loiacono, amongst others.
In 2012 she created and directed the musical nonet Projecto Nacarola. With this ensemble, she recorded her first album, released 17 February 2014. This album received incredible reviews from critics. The ensemble was so acclaimed by the audience that she was able to perform sold-out concerts continuously for years in the most prestigious venues in Argentina such as Thelonious Club, Bebop Club, Centro Cultural Matienzo, Makena, CC Konex, amongst
others.
She was accepted and granted a full scholarship to become part of the distinguished program of The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, from 2016 to 2019. In 2016 she was a featured artist of the prestigious International Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, which takes place at the unique Amphitheater Eva Peron in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Carolina performed her original arrangements at the section of Upcoming International Artists.
Just after moving to NYC, she soon began collaborating with some of the leading artists in the New York music scene, while sharing stages and recording studios with notable artists such as multi-Grammy Award-winning artist Arturo O’ Farrill, Grammy winner Linda Brinceño, Scott Kettner, John Clayton, Reggie Workman, Yotam Silberstein, Grammy winner Jorge Glem, to name a few. For her great achievements during her time at The New School of Jazz and Contemporary Music, she won the DownBeat Magazine Student prize for best ensemble for an ensemble she created and directed since she moved to NYC. This ensemble performed in acclaimed venues such as the Tishman Auditorium, and Rockwood Music Hall.
She collaborated with ALJA (Afro Latin Jazz Alliance) and was invited to perform as a lead vocalist with multi grammy winner Arturo O Farrill and the Afro Latin Jazz Orchestra, for the release of this Grammy winner album “Fandango at the Wall” at
the distinguished Pregones Theater. She also has collaborated with Arturo O’ Farrill for the release of the same album at one of the most important venues in NYC, Symphony
Space, Alongside the multi grammy winner Arturo O’ Farrill Sextet and tap dance company of the world-known dancer Ayodele Casel, performed as the lead vocalist of the
company at the most prestigious dance theater of NYC, Joyce Theater. Carolina performed for a week sold-out concerts at the Joyce Theater. This theater has been, for more than forty years, one of the most legendary jazz venues. These performances
were so outstanding that the New York Times did a review saying: “The dancers and musicians never stop listening to one another ... [an] example of human connection.”
At the beginning of 2019, Carolina Mama created and founded the band “Carolina Mama.” Developing new musical material through her original compositions with influences from South American and middle eastern folk with the distinctive sounds of
New York City Jazz.

Recently, Carolina Mama’s upcoming album “Amina” recently the won a full grant for production and recording from the famous a Cafe Royal Cultural Foundation. For over ten years the foundation based in Hamburg, Germany, The Café Royal Cultural Foundation expanded to New York City. This Foundation has supported and fostered the most talented artists of all kinds, enabling them to enhance their craft and realize
their artistic vision. This album is co-produced with Emily Elbert, guitarist of Jacob Collier and Leon Bridges, and Lau Noah, acclaimed Spanish guitarist.
She has performed and toured with famous artists like Jorge Glem, Yotam Silberstein, Arturo O Farrill, Lau Noah, among others. Beloved by her fans and ardently supported by her music industry peers, Carolina Mama stands ready to take her already astonishing career to the next level in the United States.
